Gypsy
Gypsy is a female Red-Shouldered Hawk. In 2008 she came to the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Florida. In 2009 she was transferred to the American Eagle Foundation.
As a nestling, she became human imprinted during her treatment and was then deemed non-releasable.
The Red-Shouldered Hawk's habitat is mostly wooded terrain near water.
Often the American Crow can be seen harassing and stealing food from the Red-Shouldered Hawk, but sometimmes the tables are turned and the Red-Shouldered Hawk will chase and steal food from the crows. Sometimes they will join forces and chase a Great Horned Owl out of the hawk's territory.
Gypsy is currently being trained to perform free flights in the "Wings of America" birds of prey show at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN.
